Tutorials
Saturday,
Sunday, and Monday, May 6-8Tutorials are short courses that provide participants with an opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge through extended interaction with expert instructors. The 29 tutorials available at CHI '95 represent the leading edge of current practice and research advances that are the future of human-computer interaction. Both full- and half-day tutorials will be offered on May 7 and 8. Again this year, an introductory tutorial (Introduction and Overview of Human-Computer Interaction) will be offered Saturday evening, May 6. It is designed for newcomers as well as experienced CHI conference participants wishing to review basic HCI concepts.
Tutorial offerings this year include expanded tutorial notes, updating of all returning tutorials, movement away from lecture style to user-interaction tutorials, and use of multimedia to demonstrate objectives. Further, descriptions were modified to provide the educational objectives of each tutorial, and particular care was taken in matching the suggested audience with the tutorial content. More full-day than half-day tutorials are also being offered to allow more in-depth study of individual topics.
Tutorials are for the entire day unless otherwise noted.
